On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Ekwaiweni Tafika Youth Organization contributed K450 thousand to Ekwendeni Mission Hospital for the maintenance of a water tank.
Welfred Mwalukombo, the Principal Hospital Administration Officer at Ekwendeni Hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation. He believes it will enhance service delivery, mentioning that the water tank issue began three years ago, and acquiring a new one was challenging due to the hospital’s transitional phase following multiple waves of COVID-19.
Barbra Chirwa, a laundry attendant at the hospital, welcomed the donation, anticipating that it would alleviate water problems. She described instances when the hospital faced water shortages, particularly in the laundry department.
Shupo Kumwenda, the director of Ekwaiweni Tafika Youth Organization, explained that the organization decided to donate the funds to the hospital for tank maintenance, aiming to improve sanitation.
