It never rain but pours to the Malawi Police Service (MPS).
Barely days before dust settles on one chain store allowances scandal for police officers, a new baby scandal has born at the Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) in Zomba.
On 20 – 23 October, Police Officers in the Eastern Region, who escorted exams materials for the 2020 Malawi School Certificate Examination (MANEB) to various destination throughout Malawi returned home with K20,000-00 after spending three nights in the wilderness.
Basically, each Officer was supposed to get K90,000-00 for the said period (three nights). But their expectations yielded negatively.
“It is pathetic that those involved in such process still find joy and happiness in treating us that way,” explained one of the officers who sought for anonymity.
He further explained that it’s a repetition of what happened with the just ended 2020 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLCE).
Prior to fresh Presidential Elections, welfare of Police Officers was among the Tonse Alliance agenda.
It is yet to be known if the third Republic (Tonse Alliance) will walk its talk for Malawians to judge come next elections.
