Taliban fighters have begun to recapture land from struggling Afghan govt forces. Two army bases and the country’s second-largest dam are the latest assets to fall to the militants.
Meanwhile, thousands of civilians are reported to have fled their homes in the Helmand Province, following a sharp uptick in violence in the region and concern about a potential large-scale Taliban offensive.
The US started their withdrawal process by deploying a dozen additional warplanes and sending extra soldiers to the war-torn region – to protect the exiting troops!
