MALAWI AND EGYPT IN TOBACCO EXPORTING TALKS

Malawi’s Minister of Agriculture Hon. Lobin Lowe, MP, is in Egypt  holding talks with Egyptian companies that are playing their trade in Malawi’s Tobacco industry.

Malawi continues importing fertilizers from abroad with no any export that can be exchanged with these fertilizer imports and this trip is aimed at engaging these buyers in reaching a consensus that will see Malawi exporting tobacco that will be exchanged with fertilizer imports.

The seven day Tobacco Promotional Trip has between scheduled to target two countries. The Minister will be in Egypt for five (5 )days and in the Republic Of South Africa for two (2) days.

In addition these trips have been planned to attract more buyers on Tobacco sales so that Malawian Tobacco Farmers who have been subjected to ill-treatments in regard to tobacco pricing start getting good prices from this year’s tobacco season.

As a country, Malawi will keep on growing tobacco since is the main commodity to be exported, beside cotton and sugar.
