GHANAIAN FOOTBALL COACH CHOPPED OFF

The football governing body in Ghana has removed the head coach of the national team, Chris Hughton, aiming for improved performance in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. This decision aligns with the significant news from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), indicating that the coach is relieved of his duties and a successor is to be appointed promptly.

Ghana faced a challenging match in the recent tournament, triumphing over Cameroon with a 3-2 score, securing a spot in the round of 16. However, the team fell short of delivering consistent performances, drawing 2-2 against both Cape Verde and the national teams of Egypt and Mozambique.

Chris Hughton, hailing from England, was chosen as Ghana’s coach in February 2023. His coaching experience includes stints with teams such as Brighton, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest in England, spanning several years.
