Martse whose real name is Martin Nkhata has died today morning, Monday May 23, 2022 after sustaining 48.5% burns on his body last Friday night.
Confirming the sad development at Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital, his elder brother Jerome Nkhata described the news as shocking and disturbing.
As tributes are pouring from various musicians, secular and gospel Mlaka Maliro writes “Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.” Where as most musicians could not find strength typing a single word on their social media pages as the death has come shocking to the Music sector.
Martse was a well renowned artist who will be remembered with songs as Mwano, Ndi ine, Mwapindulanji, Mkatimo and many more.
Musicians were flocking to Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital in the morning to mourn their fellow and beloved artist. At the same time social media platforms are full of Martse’s music in his memory.
Presidential advisor Lucius Banda has described the death of the popular rapper as a big blow and untimely. Banda has since urged other artists in the country to emulate Martse famed songs.
Funeral arrangements will be communicated at the Nkhata Residence in Nkolokosa’s KS/338 in Blantyre. Close to Calvary Church, where family members, musicians and his friends are gathering.
Martse was born on May 18, 1994.
