Nomads fail to displace Chitipa, Silver defile Moyale

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have failed to displace Chitipa United at the summit of the TNM Super League following a one-all draw against Kamuzu Barracks (KB) at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The Nomads had to come from behind to force the draw as defender Lawrence Chaziya cancelled KB’s lead from Olson Kanjira’s strike.

The Nomads now tie with FCB Nyasa Bullets on 37 points, two points behind leaders Chitipa United.

However, Wanderers have two games in hand while Bullets have three.

In Lilongwe, fourth placed Silver Strikers fought from one goal down to beat Moyale Barracks 4-1 at Bingu National Stadium and amass 36 points from 20 matches.

Moyale Barracks took an early lead just after five minutes into the match through veteran striker Gastin Simkonda, but the Bankers fought back to level through Innocent Shema spot kick before Patrick Macheso made it 2-1.

A brace from Chinsisi Maonga completed the routing.

At Rumphi Stadium, Ekwendeni Hammers narrowly edged Extreme FC 1-0 through Samuel Adeyemi goal to move to position eight with 28 points from 21 games.

In the picture KB coach Alick Chirwa protests Wanderers’ equaliser to assistant referee Fanuel Mailosi, arguing that the ball did not cross the goal line.
