Mighty Mukuru Wanderers popularly known as “Nyerere or Nomads* have won the Airtel Top 8 Cup after beating their arch-rivals Nyasa Big Bullets 5-3 on post match penalties at Bingu National Stadium today.
Nyasa Big Bullets defender, Kesten Simbi blasted his penalty over the crossbar while Wanderers players Stanley Sanudi, Francis Mkonda, Miracle Gabeya, Peter Cholopi and Vincent Nyangulu converted their penalties.
This is the first time for Wanderers to win the cup since its introduction in 2017.
The Nomads have conceded no go in the regulation time of all the matches they have played in this year’s tournament.
