Football referees in the Northern Region have come together for a noble cause, organizing a charity event and a subsequent get-together scheduled for this coming Saturday, 30 December 2023. Piason Kamanga, the General Secretary of Referees in the Northern Region, confirmed this initiative to Avant Sports Desk.
Kamanga disclosed that before their gathering in Rumphi, the referees intend to donate essential groceries to the Children’s ward at Bolero Health Centre. Following their charitable act, they plan to convene at the Rumphi boma for a get-together party at Cheff Lodges.
Expressing gratitude, Kamanga thanked various contributors for their support, notably acknowledging the assistance of Donnex Chilonga, Vice General Secretary of the Super League of Malawi (Sulom), as well as the patron of Ekwendeni Hammers FC, Gift Mkandawire. He also mentioned Moyale Barracks, Tiyenkhu, and Benjamin ‘Benji’ Thole, the General Secretary of Ekwendeni Hammers FC, among the donors.
Furthermore, Kamanga extended an invitation to well-wishers to participate and support this significant event.
