ZUNETH SATTAR TO APPEAR IN COURT IN LONDON

Businessman Zuneth Sattar who is under arrest in the United Kingdom, is on Wednesday morning expected to appear in court in London, for hearing into his request for authorities in UK to waive his bail conditions to allow him to travel to Malawi and Dubai.

According to bail conditions, Mr Sattar cannot at the moment travel after the National Crimes Agency (NCA) arrested him in relation to an investigation into state capture level corruption in Malawi.

Mr Sattar was previously able to travel under bail conditions for a related case following his arrest in October 2021. But following fresh arrest which was previously unreported in Malawi, the NCA revoked his freedom to travel outside the UK.

According to officials familiar with documents already filed in court, the NCA is expected to argue in court that Sattar is seeking to travel to Malawi to tamper with evidence while Sattar will argue that he posses no threat to ongoing investigations.
