The residents mostly from Magombo and Gong’ontha Villages in the township demanded that ESCOM should address their two months blackout that has come due to a faulty transformer.
According to the group’s spokesperson Doset Juma, the power utility company has been making false promises on the replacement of the transformer, a development that has greatly affected their day to day lives.

In the morning today the residents sealed ESCOM Chichiri Power House and this prompted senior ESCOM officials to address the angry residents
After a lengthy discussion Escom regional manager for the South Gilbert Chodzadza assured the residents that the transformer will be installed by the end of business of 10th March 2022.
