ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS CRUCIAL FOR ATTAINMENT OF MALAWI 2063

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says Malawi needs engineering solutions to fast track the attainment of her long-term development aspirations as contained in the Malawi 2063.

President Chakwera made the remarks in Salima at this year’s conference of the Malawi Engineering Institution (MEI).

“Malawi needs highly competent engineers to meaningfully help transform the nation,” said Dr Chakwera. He went on to challenge the engineers to up their game so that they can help tangibly accelerate the attainment of the country’s development aspirations.

The MEI was until recently known as the Malawi Institute of Engineers (MIE)

President for MEI Alfonso Chikuni among other things said the group will ensure that Malawi generates a crop of competent engineers to help develop the nation.

In her remarks, Minister of Transport, Nancy Chaola Mdooko said engineers have a crucial role to play in ensuring that the government delivers on its goals in the area of infrastructure development.

The conference was held under the theme: ‘Accelerating the roadmap to 2063 through engineering.’
