CALL BOYS TUSSLE WITH LAW ENFORCERS IN ZOMBA – Chinamwali
Business came to a Stand still in Zomba – Chinamwali following the running battles between Police Officers and Minibus Call boys.
The Police had to use Paper Spray to disperse the angry Minibus touts out of Zomba City.
Reports gathered by Avant Publications indicate that, the scaffle followed a declaration made by the Information Minister Gospel Kazako, abolishing the famous “Eni Migodi” practice in the country’s Bus terminals.
The angry call boys brought a mayhem in the City, pelting stones at any passer-bys and vehicles.
The development has atleast affected 14 candidates who were sitting for Malawi Schools Certificate of Education (MSCE) as they could not write Chichewa Paper 3 due to teargas that was fired at Chinamwali Private school premises whilst the examinations were in session.
Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) Executive Director Dorothy Nampota confirmed the development, adding that the affected students were rushed to Zomba central hospital after collapsing from the teargas.
Nampota added that arrangements have been put in place to continue the Examinations at Mlunguzi Secondary School should demonstrations continue tommorow (9th November 2021.)

However, Minister of Information, Gospel Kazako, says government will not condone any acts of lawlessness in the country.
Kazako was repeating government’s position that it will leave no stone unturned but end the cycle of “Eni mgodi” whom he says, continue to take advantage of the plight of minibus operators.
Briefing journalists in Lilongwe a while ago, Kazako said such groups collect money from operators even though they do not contribute to the development of the nation.
The Minister believes, if such revenue is channeled to government, the nation is likely to make strides while giving reference to the tollgate fees that have just been introduced today.
