Kawale Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Marko Mvukuta, has urged officers at Kang’oma Police Unit to uphold professionalism and dedicate themselves to their duties.
Mvukuta made the call on September 11, 2026, when he visited the unit as part of his continued tour of lower formations under Kawale Police Station.
He said working in a rural setting requires officers to serve members of the public with the highest levels of professionalism.
The OC also warned officers against corruption, particularly demanding money from members of the public in exchange for police bail.
“Police bail remains a free service, so do not demand money in exchange for it,” said Mvukuta.
He further urged officers to observe proper time management, prioritise their welfare, maintain good working relationships and strengthen cooperation with local leaders in the fight against crime.
Meanwhile, Kawale Station Officer, Superintendent Beatrice Nema, in her maiden address to Kang’oma officers, called for continued efforts in combating crime.
Nema commended the officers for their dedication and effective use of radio communication despite challenging working conditions and staff shortages.
Equally, the station operations officer Superintendent Thomson Mtenthawonga concurred with the SO and further advised officers to maintain police procedures like briefing and debriding each other when on special operations duties.
Kawale Police Community Policing Coordonaator Inspector Mayeso Chikadza advised officers to take responsibility of their family well being, shun Gender Based Violence.
She therefore advised to open up in cases where they are victims of GBV citing that silence at times contribute to suicide cases
In his welcoming remarks, Kang’oma Unit OC, Inspector Symon Jussa, expressed gratitude to the Kawale command for visiting the unit.
Speaking on behalf of junior officers, Sub-Inspector Sabina Luhanga thanked the OC for the visit and appealed for support from the Community Policing Branch, particularly in conducting school outreach programmes.
After the lecture, the OC and team proceeded to visit Senior Chief Tsabango headquarters where they discussed developmental issues for the Unit.
