Kawale Police engages Chilinde chiefs and block leaders .

Kawale Police through its Community Policing branch has met chiefs and block leaders from Chilinde new lines on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

The interface meeting at Kawale Police formation was aimed at empowering chiefs and block leaders to take a leading role in crime prevention by forming neighbourhood watch teams in their respective locations.

“After a similar meeting with chiefs and block leaders of Kaliyeka and Glitters few days ago, we opted to invite and energize you block leaders to imitate your counterparts” said Thoko Mkwezalamba, Community Policing Cordinator for Kawale Police Station.

Mkwezalamba emphasized that security of the area starts with citizen participation in neighborhood watch tasks.

The crime upsurge in our policing area could be attributed to a lapse on neighborhood watch.

Also in attendance was the Station Executive Committee (SEC) Chair, Chiutira Subiri who has been instrumental in the formulation of neighbourhood teams of Kaliyeka and Glitters. He has promised to help the chiefs and block leaders of Chilinde new lines too.

At the meeting, block leaders have promised to take an active role.
They have expressed willingness to choose neighbourhood watch teams that will undergo orientation in due course.
