Villagers from Chiomba village in the area of Traditional Authority Chilikumwendo in Dedza have burnt a dead body of a 76 year-old woman, identified as Eniya Million, arguing they did so to prevent it from turning into a lion.

Dedza Police Spokesperson Edward Kabango told Zodiak Online this afternoon that Eniya died yesterday and the women who were keeping vigil at the deceased house today fled after allegedly noting that the head and legs of the dead body had turned into those of a beast and that the entire body was becoming hairly.

According to Kabango, the deceased’s brother who died in 2005 also turned into a lion and caused havoc in the village and fearing the same, the villagers today took body to the graveyard and burnt it before burial to avoid what they called a similar scenario.
