Prophet Shepherd Bushiri says government has done well in putting guidelines and restrictions to limit gatherings to not more than 50 people including in places of worship as one way of combating Covid-19.
The Enlightenment Christian Gathering (ECG) founder has since called on religious leaders to find other ways and media of reaching out to their congregants and communities during this pandemic.
Bushiri made the remarks in Hewe, Rumphi district where he handed over Vwaza Community Day Secondary School to government and the community.
He said the Sheperd Bushiri Foundation will be assisting government in the fight against the pandemic by coming up with different interventions targeting the less privileged.
Bushiri who grew up in Hewe, has also pledged to continue supporting Vwaza CDSS until it becomes a full boarding secondary school including the procurement of motorbikes for teachers who operate from far.
As one way of encouraging parents to send their children to school, ECG leader pledged to pay school fees for this term for all students at the school.
Vwaza Community Day Secondary School opened in 2018 has four classroom blocks, two staff houses, laboratory and a library with an enrollment of 52 form 2 students and 60 form 1 students from this year’s secondary school selection. –
