The battle for supremacy intensified in week two of the TNM Super League as defending champions Silver Strikers FC continue their search for a winning formula.
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, Silver Strikers shared the spoils with Chitipa United FC in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Karonga Stadium.
The match saw Chitipa United take an early lead through a penalty converted by Alex Benson after Andrew Joseph was fouled in the box by Innocent Shema.
However, their celebrations were short-lived. In the 34th minute, Binwell Katinji responded for Silver Strikers with a clinical equalizer, finishing off a well-delivered cross from Zebron Kalima.

Just before halftime, with only two minutes of added time remaining, Chinsinsi Maonga fired Silver into the lead after connecting beautifully with a pass from Chimwemwe Idana, sending the visitors into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
But the drama wasn’t over. Chitipa United clawed their way back late in the game as Joseph Mbage found the back of the net to level the scoreline at 2-2, ensuring both sides settled for a point apiece.
Silver Strikers head coach Peter Mgangira expressed concern over his team’s defensive lapses, admitting that conceding in both opening matches is something they must urgently address. “In every game, there’s something to learn, and we have to improve moving forward,” he said.
Chitipa United FC coach Kondwa Ikwanga described the encounter as a game of two halves, acknowledging Silver’s dominance in the first and praising his team’s resilience in the second.

He further added, “Earning a point isn’t bad at this stage, and Silver Strikers shouldn’t be considered a ‘big team’, we’re all competing in the same league.”
As it stands, Chitipa United FC sit 10th on the log table with 1 point from two games, while Silver Strikers FC are 11th, also with 1 point from the same number of matches.
