Teenager nabbed for dubing job seekers in Kawale .

A 19-year-old Samson Freda is in Police custody at Area 24, on suspicion that he dubed 31 job seekers in Kawale.

Kawale Police, through its lower formation of Area 24 Police Unit arrested the suspect after receiving complaints from Chikondi Tchauya and 30 others.

Freda, the suspect met Tchauya on September 12, 2024 and convinced her that there were job opportunities for those interested at a certain company but the modus to secure the job is that job seeker should have National Identification card and be ready to pay K5,500 through Airtel money or in cash.

Being convinced, she gave him the money and ID. The same message was passed on to other victims who complied, too.

Then, on September 24, 2024, the victims were informed to gather at the gate of St John’s in Area 36 along M1 road for the official recruitment. However, things turned sour as the waiting time prolonged without the suspect showing up. Efforts to communicate with him proved futile as his phone was unreachable. This awakened the victims who sought police assistance at Area 24 Police Unit.

Following up on the matter, Area 24 detectives arrested the suspect in the comfort of his home in Area 24. They found him with over 20 application letters believed to be of other victims.

Samson Freda will appear before court to answer his charges once the paperwork is completed.

Freda hails from Msiyamphanje Village, Traditional Authority Chilikumwendo in Dedza district.
