Kawale Police caution Chisamba learners on crime, road accident.

Kawale Police Station through the office of Community Policing branch on September 26, 2024 sensitised primary learners at Chisamba Primary school on crime and road safety tips.

The team, led by Sub Inspector Mervis Chiunjiza from Community Policing branch unpacked several issues that are heightened in schools which leads into violation of laws of the country and further render many learner’s to drop out from school.

Addressing the learners, Detective Sub- Inspector Regina Moyo Kwezamkwamba tackled issues of drug and substance abuse, suicide and defilement. She further advised them on how best they could report such cases to police.

At the same meeting, Sergeant Adamson Ngulube advised learners on their rights as children and again warned them about the suprimacy of the law. He informed them that no one is above the law, as such they should refrain from any misconduct.

Sergeant Adamson Ngulube winded up his address by a strong warning against going to swim in Lilongwe river, which is close to school to avoid cases of drowning.

Further, the students were equipped with road safety tips taken through by Traffic Sergeant Gift Nsanjama.

He advised them to be observant when crossing the road and to wear crush helmets when using motorcycles as a pillion passenger.

Chisamba Deputy headteacher, Stophen Chambwinja expressed his profound gratitude to Kawale Police for the timely visit citing that the meeting has opened the eyes of many students. He urged the learners to utilize the tips shared to halt crime and road accidents. He further analysed the meeting as vital, saying that if continue, it wouldl help in school dropoutt reduction.
