The Center for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) organized a two-day refresher workshop at Mphatso Hotel in Mzuzu, bringing together district and community coordinators from Chitipa, Nkhata Bay, and Karonga.
CHRR Project Officer Nyatuwi Phiri spoke after the workshop, explaining that it was organized to equip coordinators with a comprehensive understanding of human rights frameworks. These frameworks are designed to protect the rights of individuals with albinism, minority groups, and the elderly.
Phiri added that the orientation would bring about a mindset change in the community and foster a better understanding of the rights of minority groups, leading to behavior change.

Thomzee Mhone, a community coordinator from Nkhata Bay, highlighted that the training provided detailed information on strengthening the rights of minority groups. He emphasized the importance of this knowledge in their efforts to advocate for these vulnerable populations.
Mhone further noted that the training is crucial for them as community coordinators working at the grassroots level, as it enhances their ability to effectively champion the rights of minority groups. This empowerment is essential for making significant progress in human rights advocacy within their communities.
The workshop concluded with coordinators expressing their commitment to applying the knowledge gained in their respective districts, aiming to foster more inclusive and equitable communities.
