On Sunday, January 14, 2024, the people of Ekwaiweni experienced a moment of relief as the Ekwaiweni Youth Organization distributed maize to 110 families, addressing the pressing issue of hunger in the community.
Among the recipients was Chrissy Kumwenda, a 76-year-old beneficiary who expressed gratitude, stating that the maize arrived just in time when her household had nothing to eat. She extended heartfelt thanks to the Ekwaiweni Youth Organization for their support.
The Director of Ekwaiweni Youth Organization Shupo Kumwenda explained the decision to distribute maize, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to aiding the community in their struggle for food.
The total value of the distributed maize amounted to K1.2 million, signifying a significant contribution towards alleviating hunger in Ekwaiweni.
