18 year old form 1 student in Mponela Dowa has committed suicide in disagreement with his aunt who was condemning his behaviour of having multiple sexual relationships.
He hanged himself in a tree on Monday at Nasoni village in Dowa.
Chakufuma was staying with his aunt and schooling at a certain secondary school in the district. On January 7 after taking lunch, he left home and did not report back.
“But in the early morning of January 8, he was found hanging from a branch of the tree within the aunt’s compound. He however left some writings on a wall as suicide note concerning the multiple relationships he had with girls which his aunt had been condemning.
Postmortem conducted at Mponela Rural Hospital revealed that death was due to suffocation, secondary to strangulation and no foul play was suspected.
