KAMUZU BARRACKS CLINCH NARROW VICTORY AGAINST MIGHTY MUKURU WANDERERS FC.

Reported by Innocent Mvundula

In a sparling encounter at Kasungu stadium, Kamuzu Barracks secured a crucial 1-0 victory over the formidable Mighty Mukuru Wanderers from Blantyre. The Yellow Submarines displayed remarkable football prowess, a stark contrast to their recent struggles in the Superleague and an early exit from the FDH cup, where they suffered a defeat at the hands of Santhe Admarc FC.

Alick Chirwa, the coach of KB, credited the victory to a strategic change in players, and with this triumph, he ambitiously sets his sights on finishing either at the top position or a close second in the league standings. Chirwa emphasized the importance of each win, noting that a single victory can propel them up the narrow log table.

On the other hand, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers faced a setback but demonstrated their resilience by previously securing three consecutive victories over Silver Strikers FC, Blue Eagles Nkhwazi za ku Lilongwe, and Mafco FC, amassing nine points in total. However, their coach, Mark Harrison, acknowledged the defeat and highlighted mistakes and missed opportunities that cost them the match, especially in the second half.

The Nomads have encountered a tough season, suffering losses to Extreme FC, Chitipa United, and most recently, Kamuzu Barracks, all with a scoreline of 1-0. Nevertheless, Harrison remains determined to strengthen the squad further, despite having a talented roster currently.

As the first round concludes, the Nomads find themselves in the fourth position, while Kamuzu Barracks claim the sixth spot. Notably, the match’s venue had to be shifted from Civo stadium in Lilongwe to Kasungu stadium due to prior bookings for other events.
