Shepherd Bushiri of the ECG Church, has pledged to adopt 8 cyclone Freddy survivor camps with over 600 households in Mulanje West.
The eight camps are around Namulenga area.
Noting that the area is unreachable following the washing away of two bridges that connect the area to main roads, Bushiri said he has hired a helicopter that will arrive in the country on Monday to help supply the isolated area with relief items.

Bushiri has further promised to give the people supplies that they need and cash so that they can start reconstructing their houses.

We spent the day in Mulanje, and the situation is very bad. 19,100 households have been affected, 135 people died and 217 people have been reported missing. These numbers keep increasing everyday.
There are over 100 camps, and most of them have been receiving help. However, there is one specific village (T/A Juma) that has not received any help until now. This is so because the main bridge was wiped away hence cars cannot pass.

This coming Monday, we are going back with a helicopter, to give out relief items. However, this is surely not a long term solution. The goal is to make sure that these people are able to go back home and rebuild their lives. Therefore, there shall be financial assistance rendered to these families so they can get back on their feet.
Pray for Malawi
God bless Malawi.
