Salima district’s SengaBay Police Unit is located in Agriculture offices at the junction to Baobab Lodge in SengaBay.
On November 7, 2022, one of Avant Publications’ reporter was stripped off his luggage from Hangout music festivals when coming from duties.
For assistance, he rushed to SengaBay Police Unit, where he discovered a number of challenges being faced by by the station’s officers when discharging their duties.
In total, SengaBay police unit has 10 police officers who are operating from rented houses. The sad thing is that there are no structures for the police to claim its ownership.
SengaBay police officers operate in an ADD office for years now. About eight criminal cases are being registered on daily basis and most of them require mobility to trace culprits.
On this day, it took AvantMalawi reporter to use his own transport to ferry our dear men in uniform to and fro.
“We are challenged interms of housing and mobility, we depend on Salima central police unit to grant us a vehicle where we mostly fail to catch with our time flame to seal off our cases. So far our operations are running in the following areas; Kabumba, Maganga and Ngolowindo.” Commented Mr Thawani, SengaBay Police’s Office in Charge.

SengaBay Is a tourist centre where most entertainment functions take place. Security is a must priority as the place is vulnerable to crime.
Avant publications is calling upon the Ministry of Homeland security to assist uplifting the welfare of SengaBay police officers.
