Lilongwe — Some members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who worship at Kawale in Lilongwe have expressed deep disappointment and concern following the closure of the church premises over unpaid rent.
One member, who requested anonymity, described the situation as extremely worrying, saying the closure has affected many members who regularly gather at the church for worship and other activities.
According to members who spoke to this publication, the church reportedly has four months of outstanding rent amounting to approximately K1.4 million.
The members say the situation is particularly concerning because the church has been operating from the premises for more than 10 years.
They are now appealing for urgent intervention and a clear solution to the rental dispute, warning that continued closure could seriously disrupt worship and affect the wider church community.
As of publication, the church leadership had not yet commented on the development.
