SHUPO KUMWENDA POOL LEAGUE UNITES YOUTH ACROSS COMMUNITIES

Shupo Kumwenda Pool League has attracted several teams from Ekwaiweni, Ekwendeni Msiki, and Dunduzu, drawing interest from various corners of the community.

Sponsored by Shupo Kumwenda with a K500,000 package, the league has sparked competitive spirit and enthusiasm among youth in the participating areas.

Mathews Munthali, Chairperson of the organizing committee, expressed satisfaction with the league’s progress, noting that it has successfully brought together young people from different localities, keeping them actively and positively engaged.

Speaking at Centre Park, one of the venues for the matches, Munthali praised the nine teams currently participating in the competition. He highlighted that the league has become a platform for many youths to get involved in sports and community activities.

The league features both male and female players, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment that has brought excitement and entertainment to the local youth.

Munthali further noted that the tournament is helping steer young people away from negative influences, as it gives them a productive and enjoyable way to spend their time.

On his part, Shupo Kumwenda, the sponsor of the league, said he was motivated to launch the tournament as a way of keeping the youth busy and shielding them from harmful peer pressure.

The winning team will receive K200,000, while the runner-up will take home K150,000. The third-placed team will walk away with K100,000, and the fourth will receive K50,000.
