England based well-wisher Andrew Bottomer has donated football equipment to Chitipa United football club as part of the pledge he made to the district’s sports office.
Speaking at the presentation of the items Chitipa district Sports Officer Rolland Harawa who donated the equipment on behalf of Bottomer said the gesture is part of the package which the latter promised to the district.
“Bottomer in his wish and with our request he is fulfilling his long awaited pledge he made to us.
Chitipa united was one of the teams earmarked in this project known as Community Leader Sports Africa which we are extending to schools within Kawale Zone and 11 grass root teams in the district,” Said Harawa.
Chitipa United General Secretary, Duma Ngoma commended the donor saying the gesture is a morale booster to their side.
“The donation is a sigh of relief, as a team we had some shortfalls in training gear such as boots and balls, so this will lift the burden,” Said Ngoma.
Adding that “We are much grateful to the donor and we are looking forward for more from him.”
Among the donated items were a full kit jersey, balls and boots.
