Stephano’s foundation has assisted people in the area of Tradition Authorities (T/A’S) Maseya and N’gabu in Chikwawa district with flour.
Speaking during the donation, Project Officer of the organisation in Chikwawa Happy Chiumia said lower shire has been affected by drought which has prompted hunger in the district.
”People are facing hunger in this area because of drought and the little harvest they have managed will not take them a long way,” Said Chiumia.
Adding that “The poor harvest might lead into loss of lives and malnutrition among children.”
He then appealed to government and other organizations to join hands in bailing out the people of Chikwawa from hunger.
Teresa Malekano, one of the beneficiaries thanked the organisation for the timely support.
“We are overwhelmed with the support we have received today, it will help us to feed our families because we do not have enough food due to drought that paralyzed our farms,” Said Malekano.
Stephano’s foundation is a non government organisation that carries out different activities in chikwawa such as supporting irrigation schemes and supporting orphans among others.
