The Malawi Police Service (MPS) wishes to inform Malawians that it has, today April 21, 2021, arrested seven more government officials suspected to have taken part in the abuse of Covid-19 funds.
This brings the total number of the arrested to 46.
The arrested government officials are from Zomba City Council, Mangochi Municipal Council and Mchinji District Council. They include Charles Thombozi, Chief Executive Officer for Zomba City Council.
The suspects will be answering charges of fraudulent false accounting among other charges.
MPS detectives are still on the ground and more arrests will follow James Kadadzera (ACP) Public Relations Officer has confirmed.
