Despite a slight increase of crime rate in Mangochi in the just ended year, Mangochi Police Station through its prosecution branch headed by Assistant Superintendent Davie Banda has emerged first on completed cases in the entire Eastern Region with 92.2%
According to annual report released at regional level, Mangochi Police has emerged victorious out of other four stations: Zomba, Balaka, Machinga and Monkey-Bay.
Out of 1078 cases which the station’s prosecution branch received for court, Banda and team completed 994 cases and secured 739 convictions.
The station has an outstanding of 84 cases, 66 cases were acquitted while 95 cases were withdrawn.
The Commissioner responsible for the Eastern Region, Arlene Baluwa has congratulated the prosecution team through the Officer In-Charge for the station, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Francis Chisoti, for working professionally and tirelessly.
The station is motivated with the achievement and is therefore assuring the public that the officers will continue with the apprehension of offenders and plead for maximum penalties in court so as to make Mangochi a crime free zone.
