A man aged 36, Duncan Mughogho, is struggling with third degree burns at Mzuzu Central Hospital after his wife, 23, splashed him with hot porridge over marital disagreements.
Mzuzu police spokesperson, Paul Tembo, says Mughogho has now been admitted to the facility after his condition began deteriorating while at home.
The wife, Mirriam Msumba, was arrested and charged with conduct likely to cause grievous bodily harm but has been released on bail.
Speaking to from his hospital bed, Mughogho says he is in great pain and hardly sleeps as his whole back is covered with severe burns.
