Supreme Court of Appeal Judge Justice Healey Potani has been involved in a car accident at Katundu area.

He was taken to Mlambe hospital and he has since been referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) for further treatment. The road accident occured at 17 miles on the M1 road near Matindi in Blantyre.

Chileka Police spokesperson Sub-Inspector Peter Mchiza has told Avantmalawi that the Judge was driving from the earthroad into the main road when a coaster registration number MH 6762 hit the judges’ car registration number JUD 7/MG 595 AK.

Potani was the Judge president of the Constitution Court which nullified the 2019 presidential election case.

Potani was promoted by president Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera to Supreme Court after the latter assumed office.

He was quickly rushed to Mlambe hospital and he was referred to QECH. A preliminary assessment indicates he is in a stable condition and able to recount what happened. He will later undergo a CT scan.CT scan was normal. His vital signs were normal, just he’s usual BP that’s high. He’s now sleeping.
