SIMBOTA WINS CASE AGAINST MBC

The office of Ombudsman has reinstated former producer and presenter of the state funded Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation (MBC), Ian Desmond Simbota after he was mysterious fired last year.

Simbota who is also the president of Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) said he was happy with the outcome of his case.

“I have just received good news from the Ombudsman’s office that I have won my case against MBC, thank God am very happy. Back to work soon, Zikomo Yahweh,” Said Simbota.

He was fired last year over complaints he made to the visiting Minister at MBC about the gossip that was happening at the institution to get others fired.

Immediately after he made these complaints his roles were stripped at the institution and he was fired.

Soon after his firing, Overston Kondowe, the chairperson of APAM claimed that Simbota was fired because he was fighting for the plight of persons with albinism.

Simbota was fired under the leadership of the embattled former Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta.

Simbota’s public inquiry hearing was done in July last year by the office of the Ombudsman.
