RUO BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION WORK AT 80%

Construction works for Ruo Bridge in Nsanje has reached 80 percent, Roads Authority and engineer at the site have said.

On Wednesday, Minister of Transport and Public Works Jacob Hara toured the 83 Kilometer Thyolo-Thekerani -Muona – Makhanga Road to appreciate works done for the road whose physical progress stands at 92 percent.

Thereafter, Hara visited Ruo Bridge Project.

“I am impressed with the Ruo Bridge Project. I have seen quality work here,” Hara said.

Upon completion people from Makhanga area will now be able to connect with people from Muona and other areas. The bridge will also be used for rail services between Malawi and Mozambique.

Construction works for the K7Billion bridge project was affected as result of COVID-19 as it was earmarked to be completed in November last year.

Contractor Mota Engil is expected to finish the bridge in April this year.
