Two die in Rumphi road accident
In Rumphi, two people have died after being involved in a road accident that occurred at Chitimba Health Centre.
One of the deceased persons have been identified as one year-old Frank Njodi and unknown woman.
Report filed at Rumphi Police Station indicates that, the driver Timothy Manda was driving a motor vehicle registration MH 8552 Nissan Caravan Minibus from the direction of Mzuzu heading Karonga.
Upon arrival at the said place, the rear tyre got burst which made the driver fail to control the motor vehicle.
The motor vehicle swerved to offside lane where it overturned several times.
Frank Njodi and unidentified woman sustained severe head injuries and they were pronounced dead upon arrival at Chitimba Health Centre.
The driver and some passengers sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment at the Health Centre in question.
Police in the district are advising all road users to avoid overspeeding and ensure that they follow all road traffic rules to avoid accidents.
