After waiting their benefits for so long, retired soldiers from all Malawi Defence Force units are planning a vigil to take place at Capitol Hill aiming at forcing the government to compensate them with their monetary benefits.
In a communique, that avant publications has in possession retired soldiers from Blantyre base have confirmed mobilising themselves with various resources to mount a vigil on July 25, 2022 at Government Central offices, Capitol Hill in Lilongwe.
In the quest to quench their dissatisfaction, the retired soldiers have planned to walk to Capitol Hill peacefully.
“As we are talking, most of us have sold our properties and even went borrowing money in support of this vigil. Our language is a request, the government must pay us our duly entitlements that we have fought for years to date. Negotiations have proved unproductive to both parties as government officials can not fulfil their promises” said Gunduze a concerned retired military personnel.
The organizers have pledged peaceful demonstrations on 25th July 2022
