Malawi Police Service (MPS) has warned all individuals who are illegally keeping government vehicles to return them to avoid embarrassment.
National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera has said this in an interview with avantmalawi.
The warning comes few hours after the men in uniform arrested Dabble Dissi, a bodyguard to the immediate past president Peter Mutharika on allegations of stealing a government motor vehicle.
Dissi is being suspected of stealing a Toyota Prado TXL Registered Number BW 687 and he was arrested on Tuesday in Lilongwe.
According to Kadadzera MPS through its Anti-Motor Vehicle Theft Unit is following up on all government vehicles currently in custody of illegal persons.
“It has to be noted that the unit has a list of all government vehicles and is following up on each of them,” Said Kadadzera.
Adding, “All people who are holding government’s vehicles should return them to police to avoid being embarrassed.”
