The Supreme Court of Appeal in Blantye has quashed the results of Nkhata Bay Central Constituency May 2019, Parliamentary elections.
Raphael Mhone, a People’s Party candidate in that poll, challenged the victory of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP’s) member, Symon Vuwa Kaunda as declared by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).
The Court has nullified the results citing irregularities in that poll.
The ruling signals another by-election in the constituency.
Currently, MEC has resumed its operations following sustaining of an injunction against the firing of two MEC Commissioners, Jean Mathanga and Linda Kunje. –
