Malawi Congress Party Expands. John Chisi, Zelia Chakale Flock to MCP

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has made headlines with the recent induction of several prominent figures into its ranks. Among the new members are Professor John Chisi, the leader of the Umodzi Party, Zelia Chakale, formerly the Vice President for the center region in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), and Chikumbutso Sinsamala. This momentous occasion unfolded at MCP’s headquarters in Lilongwe.

Professor Chisi, during his address at the event, cited the impressive developments under the leadership of President Lazarus Chakwera as a driving force behind his decision to join MCP. He emphasized his alignment with the party’s vision and objectives.

Eisenhower Mkaka, the Secretary General of MCP, highlighted how the inclusion of these new members is poised to streamline the party’s preparations for the forthcoming 2025 elections. This significant influx of influential figures into MCP’s fold has set the political landscape abuzz in Malawi.
