It is obvious that no violence is onesided. Avantmalawi managed to cover both sides of the Karonga Violence in a detailed tune. In an interview with few youths in Karonga who went patrolling their constituency during the night of 27th March 2021.
They are strong allegations from UTM youths, where it is believed MCP gurus are fond of distributing cash tips to woe voters during nights post campaigns.
However, UTM team was well prepared to see to it – this occurence must not repeat itself.
During the night of 27th March, in exercising free and fair elections Mzondi Mkandawire and Fidoman led UTM youths to patrol the nearby premises where it was reported MCP team was having indoor campaigns with various voters.
In the process of questioning the rationale behind the closed doors campaigning, MCP team started beating FIDOMAN who eventually shouted for assistance.
It is noted, the angry UTM fans went revenging by stonning MCP car in pictures and requesting the release of their colleguea who was then injured by the massive beating
On the otherside, our reporters inquired from MCP youths, who has it that UTM supporters were jealous with Massive campaigning Hon Chimwendo et al exercised in Karonga.
According to MCP gurus, they believe UTM had a plot against their leaders, initially they had planned to out play their team, in the process damaging and insulting their leaders like Hon Paul Nkhoma, Hon Jephter Mwale, Hon Gerald Kapiseni and others.
In his words according to Peter Dimba on his facebook page, our major frustration is that UTM Started plotting against our MCP leadership in Karonga on their whats app group. Their plot was executed last night around 10pm where they took turns assaulting and violating where we were lodging, we spotted a Land cruiser which their MP and an Mzuzu – based youth leader were seen using throughtout the campaign. The attack which started earlier around 3pm materialized at 23:00hrs simply because all men and women flooked to Baka school where a Massive campaign was conducted by MCP.
We as MCP we believe party ligaria is a powerful campaigh tool and not money as claimed by UTM.
Therefore, the ambulance which was carrying party cloths and T-shirts belongs to Hon Baba Malondela and entire team was forced by UTM youth.
Where as according to UTM, they claim they went to make sure no foul play is being played to woe voters after campaign was officially closed.
It should be noted that Karonga records various degrees of violence in each and every passing elections. The arrest of Mr Mkandawire has therefore fueled more anger than before. Where UTM supporters are demandind release of their collegeau or MCP to face the drama
Our reporter has it that the quarrels are inhouse bound, therefore the Tonse Alliance must sit aside and talk over the disagreements. These political violence are uncalled for and must be condemned at all costs. We spotted disturbing development where District Commissioner for Chitipa was injured in the process of the quarrels too
