Esther Mcheka Chilenje was captured earlier casting her vote, Chilenje who was once deputy speaker of Parliment lost to Gotani Hara of MCP as the current speaker of Parliment.

By-elections: at Masenjere primary school in Nsanje North Constituency voting started a little late. This was because some party representatives came late and MEC officials could not go on with the process.
DPP shadow MP, Esther Mcheka Chilenje, has cast her vote at this centre. She expressed satisfaction with the voter turn up and was optimistic this shall be the trend all day today.
Masenjere polling center has 1607 registered voters. Only 854 voters came for verification.
By-elections: at Makhanga primary school polling center in Nsanje North Constituency voting started as early as 6 am.
Presiding Officers, John Mpwahiwa, says overall turn up is impressive in most polling stations at the center.
He says there has, so far, not been any problem with the voting process and he expects the voter turnout to pick as the day grows old.
In a related Development, in Nsanje central constituency, Democratic Progressive Party’s Francis Kasaila faces Malawi Congress Party’s Kafandikhale Mandevana in a highly contested by-election.

Where as in Nsanje North Enock Chizuzu takes Esther Mcheka Chilenje to a tag of war.

Whereas Unknown thugs last night attacked Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate for Nsanje Central Constituency, Kafandikhale Mandevana in the district.
According to Mandevana, the assailants attacked him together with other MCP leaders around 9 pm, between Mtolongo and Kachere area while they were on their way to drop monitors in the Constituency in readiness for today’s by-elections.
He said the attackers, armed with pangas, axes and stones, smashed his car and hit him with a big stone, before he managed to escape from the scene.
Meanwhile, national police spokesperson, James Kadadzera said he does not have information regarding the incident, asking for more time to get the details from Nsanje Police Station.
