Police, Stakeholders denounce Political violence, calls for peace in Masintha Constituency

As dates are closing up for the country to hold tripartite elections on September 16, this year, the Officer-In-Charge for Kawale Police (OC), Mr Davie Chilalire Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP joined other Political stakeholders in denouncing political violence in Kawale.

Mr Chilalire underscored the need for party followers to uphold peace during campaign meetings.

OC Chilalire made the call on Tuesday, August 12 , 2025 during the parliamentary debate organized by National Initiative for Civic Education (N.I.C.E) trust at Kawale Primary School

The debate aims at bringing to light what is expected from their candidates once voted to power and also as an enlightenement to all voters of their obligations and fundamental rights.

During his speech, Mr Davie Chilalire ACP extended the message from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs Merlyne Yolamu against Panga knives pepetrated political violence that they risk possible arrest once involved.

In Masintha Constituency we don’t want any form of political violence that undermines the peace and at the same time infringe rights of candidates and voters.

“Look at our shadow MPs, they are sitting together in front of you on same table in peace and harmony let this be reciprocated to you all party supporters” OC Chilalire stressed.

Mrs Harji Ali, District Program Officer from N.I.C.E trust said that the gathering was a success without a record of any form of violence, with the attendance of six candidates from different Political parties coming together with their supporters.

She further noted that voters were excited and eager to support their candidates in expression of their rights through voting.

During the debate session, aspirants from UTM , MCP, PDP and Independents were given equal opportunity to unpack their campaign promises for the area.

MCP Constituency Chair Person for Masintha, Mr James Dzonzi hailed N.I.C.E trust for organizing the debate that brought together voters from different Political parties and further promised to adhere the peace guidelines as shared by the Officer-In-Charge Mr Chilalire and other political stakeholders.
