In an effort to strengthen the relationship between police and the public, Mangochi Police, in collaboration with a team from the National Police Headquarters’ Community Policing Branch, has urged communities around M’baluku not to allow themselves to be manipulated into violence.
The appeal was made on February 29, 2024, at the premises of Group Village Headman M’baluku, with various traditional leaders and members of community policing forums in attendance.
Mr. Morgan Dzonzi, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Officer In-Charge for Mangochi Police Station, reassured the gathering of ongoing efforts to enhance security measures in the district.

“This area has unfortunately been associated with violence. Therefore, I urge us to cultivate a strong relationship and collaborate as a unified team,” pleaded Dzonzi.
He also cautioned against the advocacy of politically motivated violence, while stressing the importance of joint patrols with Community Policing Forums to enhance crime prevention measures.
Echoing similar sentiments, Mr. Alex Simenti, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Director of Community Policing at the National Headquarters, encouraged communities to devise effective security strategies. He also advised the people the importance of respecting the law and refraining from damaging government structures or inflicting harm on suspected criminals.
In his remarks, GVH M’baluku commended the police for their dedication and relentless efforts to restore peace and order in the area. He pledged that his community would henceforth refrain from resorting to violence in times of disagreement with the Police.
Among the senior officers present at the awareness meeting were Superintendent Sazalabika Zimba, Coordinator for Eastern Region Community Policing, Assistant Superintendent Clement Madeira, MPS Community Policing Desk Officer, and Inspector James Kumbikano, Coordinator for Mangochi Police Station.
