In a recent development, the Northern Region Football Association competition committee has imposed a two-year ban on Zolozolo Rangers FC , prohibiting their participation in any association-organized activities. This action follows a disturbing incident during their Nyasa Capital Finance Cup match against Ekwaiweni Tafika Sports Academy FC on November 19, 2023, at Chibwaka ground.
Zolozolo Rangers faced charges for a pitch invasion, a clear violation of Article 19 of the tournament’s rules, accompanied by assaults on officials. Mr. Mathews Nguluwe, leading Zolozolo Rangers, also bears the brunt of a personal ban from all association activities, underscoring the severity of the situation.
The implications extend beyond the team, prompting reflection on local football’s image and the role of strict disciplinary measures. The committee’s decision emphasizes a commitment to upholding the sport’s integrity and addressing breaches of conduct with appropriate consequences.
