The Chairperson of the Northern Region Football Association (NRFA), Masiya Nyasulu, has urged football clubs to adopt a business-minded approach in managing their teams.
Nyasulu made the remarks during a pre-season meeting with clubs on Sunday, 13th April 2025, held at Njakwa Village Lodge in Mzuzu.
He emphasized that the era of running football clubs purely out of passion is over, stressing that modern football requires a professional and business-oriented mindset.
Nyasulu further explained that the introduction of the round-robin format is aimed at promoting serious and competitive teams, ones that are not only prepared for promotion to the national league but are also capable of meeting both financial and performance demands at higher levels.
“We need clubs that are ready and able to participate fully in the league. Otherwise, we risk having teams that forfeit matches and hand out free points due to failure to honor fixtures,” he said.
The Simso Mzuzu 12 Premier League is scheduled to kick off on 17th May 2025, officially transitioning from the cluster format to a full round-robin system.
