In a groundbreaking move, the Mzuzu Fire Sporting Club is leading the charge in fostering sustainability while nurturing the athletic potential of youth. A momentous collaboration is set to unfold on December 9th as the club partners with Katoto Primary School to plant an impressive 150 trees on the school grounds. This ambitious eco-initiative seeks to not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also to create natural shade, purify the air, and instill a sense of environmental responsibility among the students.

Simultaneously, the event will herald the launch of an inspiring sports bursary program designed for financially constrained learners at Katoto Primary. With a commitment to support up to 30 deserving pupils, this program will cover tuition fees and essential necessities for an initial two-year term, spanning from 2024 to 2025. By breaking down financial barriers to education, this initiative aims to unearth and nurture the latent talents of young, promising athletes.

Volleyball takes center stage as the club unveils its prestigious Team Fire Volleyball Academy on this momentous occasion. This initiative, offered at no cost, will focus on providing comprehensive training in beach volleyball and indoor volleyball, utilizing recently upgraded facilities at Katoto Primary. Its primary goal is to cultivate grassroots talent, grooming future prospects for national team representation.

The Guest of Honor, Madam Lydia Tambala, District Education Sports Officer, will grace the event, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering collaborations between schools and communities in environmental conservation and sports development. Notable dignitaries such as Mr. Ronald Mwale and Mr. James Kaunda from regional and national volleyball associations will also attend.

Supported by esteemed sponsors Classic Hardware Centre and Grand Palace Hotel, the event promises a day of substantial impact. Driven by Mzuzu Fire SC’s unwavering vision for change, Katoto Primary stands to reap remarkable benefits from this multifaceted initiative. Students can anticipate a greener environment, increased educational opportunities, and access to top-notch sports training within their reach!
