Mera boss awaits another judge to preside over his case

Continuation of the case of former Chief Executive Officer for Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority, Collins Magalasi is pending allocation of another presiding magistrate.

Senior Resident Magistrate Shyreen Chirwa who was presiding over the matter has been transferred to the industrial relations court, prompting the Chief Resident Magistrate to allocate a new magistrate for the case.

Magalasi is in court on suspicion that he facilitated payment of K10 million to Democratic Progressive Party officials for accommodation during the party’s convention.

Director of Public Prosecution Steven Kayuni has told Capital FM that the state is still ready to parade its six witnesses.

In his earlier court appearance, Magalasi pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud and abuse of office.
