The grouping which was led by it’s Chairperson Assistant Superintendent Agnes Ngonga, donated the items with funds raised from the fundraising mock shower which took place on May 28, 2022 in Mchinji District.
Each prisoner received a blanket, 1kg of sugar, tablets of U-fresh and Geisha soap and a piece of Chitenje. However, four females out of the figure each received two packs since they have children who are with them in Prison including one who is expectant.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Ngonga cited that, Kasungu is one of the isolated prisons and people hardly visit that’s why the grouping thought it wise to cheer up inmates and charity work is one of the activities of the network.
The ln-charge for the prison female section lnspector Zione Katapa commended the officers for the gifts and visit.
Speaking on behalf of other prisoners , Eliza Botha Here who is serving a 3-year jail term for grievous harm thanked Mchinji female officers for the aid and described it as timely.
